Several attendees have asked us to cover mental health at the vulnerability workshop. Mental health is a big topic, so we have decided to focus in on a sub-category – that of dementia.
There are illnesses that stop a person’s brain from working properly. When a person has one of these illnesses, they may have problems remembering, thinking and speaking. They might say or do things that seem strange to others, and find it harder to do everyday things. They may not seem like the person they used to be. Doctors use the word dementia to describe these different problems.
To help providers understand how services can be better provided to customers who have dementia, we have invited experts to speak at the workshop. We have listed to feedback from previous events and will be giving the presenters more time to speak. We are also allocating more time for attendees to ask questions.
After the presentations, will give providers the opportunity to discuss the ideas presented.
