Read our report: building trust in the energy sector

Ombudsman Services | Sept 25, 2019

Yesterday (Tuesday 24 September) we held a fringe event at the Labour Party conference in Brighton.

Chaired by Utility Week website editor James Wallin, the event saw panellists discuss ways to build trust and protect consumers in the energy sector.

Taking part in the debate were:

  • Dr Alan Whitehead | Shadow Minister for Energy and Climate Change

  • Audrey Gallacher | Director of Policy, Energy UK

  • Clementine Cowton | Director of External Affairs, Octopus Energy

  • Steve Battlemuch | Chair, Robin Hood Energy

  • Matthew Vickers | Chief Executive, Ombudsman Services

As well as a fascinating debate that touched on everything from the energy price cap to decarbonisation, we used the event to launch a new report, How can we build trust and protect consumers in the energy sector?

The paper, which includes a foreword from Matthew Vickers and sets out a new framework for building trust in energy based on 'intent, execution and outcomes', can be accessed below.
